Thomas C.
Chernowsky
d. May 20, 2026
West Wyoming
Thomas C. Chernowsky, 85, of West Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026 due to injuries sustained following a tragic house fire at his home.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 16, 1941, Tom was the son of the late John and Helen Cizik Chernowsky. After graduating from high school, he answered the call to serve his country, honorably serving in the United States Navy.
Prior to his retirement, he dedicated 25 years of service as an employee at Celotex. In his earlier years, he was known to many as a friendly milkman delivering across the Back Mountain area.
Above all, Tom was a devoted family man who built a beautiful 66-year marriage with his beloved wife, Judith. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, his strong work ethic, and his kindness. He also held a special place in his heart for animals and sadly lost his cherished pet Senegal parrot, “Nikki,” in the fire.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his beloved son, Thomas Chernowsky.
Surviving are his wife, Judith D. (Asklar) Chernowsky; his daughter, Michelle Chernowsky and her partner, Steven Stelma, Swoyersville; and nieces and nephews.
In accordance with the family's wishes, funeral services will be held privately.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
