Robert Louis Messina Sr., 63, of Harding, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Pittston, on March 26, 1961, Bob was the son of the late Patrick Sr. and Louise Prokop Messina.

Bob was self-employed for over 35 years as the owner and operator of R & M Mechanical, a heating, plumbing, electrical & air conditioning company.

Bob was always very active in the community and volunteering his time and talents.  He was past President and board member of the West Pittston Cherry Blossom Festival Committee; member and past Governor of the Moose Lodge 1207, West Pittston; Assistant Scout Master for Troop 302 of the Boy Scouts of America; and former member of the Goodwill Hose Company, West Pittston.

Bob would do anything for anyone in need, friend or stranger alike.  He was exceptionally hardworking, honest and caring.  He instilled these values to all of those he mentored throughout the community.  He was a true leader, inspiring many with his get it done attitude to any problem he was presented with and invariably finding a solution.

Bob had a great love of the outdoors and was an avid hunter, always escaping at any opportunity to his hidden cabin in the woods.  He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Surviving are his son, Robert Messina Jr., Germany; and daughter, Jessica James and her husband, Trentt; Hawaii; three granddaughters, Emma, Ellie and Harper James; brothers, Joseph Messina, Greeley, PA; Patrick Messina Jr., West Pittston; Michael Messina, Harding; John Messina, West Pittston; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Monica Parish, 363 W 8th St., West Wyoming, with the Reverend Peter Tomczak, officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Rocco's Cemetery, Pittston.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
