Obituary

Michael L. Satkowski, 91, of Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 9, 2024 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

His beloved wife is Theresa Oleski Satkowski.  Together, Michael and Theresa would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Septmeber 13th.

Born in Dupont, on September 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Joseph and Victoria Lacomis Satkowski.

Prior to retiring, he worked as a cloth cutter and spreader in the local garment industry.

Michael was a devout and faithful Catholic and member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Dupont.  He attended daily Mass and perhaps you may have encountered him at church, where he would have greeted you with a smile, talked with you, or simply walked you to a pew.

His life was rich with hobbies that reflected his love of nature and family.  He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and he especially enjoyed spending time in his garden tending to his flowers and vegetables, especially his blueberry bushes and tomato plants.  In earlier years, he was a volunteer coach for his son's mini football team in Dupont.

All those who knew Michael can certainly agree that, of all the things he loved in life, he treasured his family above all else.  His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy; they affectionately called him Pop.

Michael left behind a legacy of a life filled with love, commitment, and faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Britt; sisters, Mary Raulinavich; Loretta Cushing; Leona Byank; and Rita Lombardo; brother, Richard Satkowski; and several brother and sister-in-laws.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Theresa, Michael is survived by his son, Michael and his wife, Cindy, Oxford, OH; daughter, Lynn Britt and her husband, John, Swoyersville; 4 grandchildren, Taryn Megumi, Kali Madoka, Kyle Britt and his wife, Annie, and Shane Britt and his fiancé, Savannah Nadolny; 5 great grandchildren, Emmie, Max, Maeve, Saraya, and Mars; brothers, Joseph Satkowski and his wife, Dorothy, Dupont; Steven Satkowski and his wife, Dorothy, Dupont; and John Satkowski and his wife, Joannie, Dupont; sister-in-law, Anna Oleski, Wyoming; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
