It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Loretta M. Malsky, 82, of Exeter, on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.

Born in Shickshinny, on September 29, 1941, Loretta was the daughter of the late Leopold and Josephine Kollar Madl.

Loretta was a devout Catholic and member of St. Barbara's Parish in Exeter.  She was a 1959 graduate of Northwest High School.

She was the beloved wife of the late Leo Malsky.  They were married on October 14, 1961 and were blessed with five beautiful children.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Party Time Manufacturing.

She loved spending time with family and Sundays were the most special day.  Cooking spinach noodles, chicken soup, piggies, beef stew, baking cookies, homemade pies and nut roll, all made with love!

Everyone was welcome at her house, and she always put an extra plate at the table for anyone that wanted to join!  Come hungry, leave full, and take food for tomorrow's lunch.

Loretta attended mass daily, read books, enjoyed crocheting, loved watching old movies, and talking on the phone to out of town nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She truly loved her entire extended family.

She loved sending handwritten cards for every holiday, birthday, and special occasion, as well as talking on the phone for hours catching up with out-of-town friends and family.  She took the time to listen to stories, problems, and always had positive words of encouragement to make everything okay.

In addition to her parents and husband, Loretta was preceded in death by her daughter, Joanne; and siblings, Marie Mooney (Tom), Stephen (Helene) and Leo (Leatha).

Her passion for life and her family was all she needed for happiness!

Surviving are her children, Christine Kohut; Joseph (Karen); Leo (Gina); and Diane Lukasavage (Shayne); and the loves of her life, her 8 grandchildren, Alexandra Malsky, Leo Malsky, Michael Kohut, Emily Lukasavage, Anna Malsky, Zachary Malsky, Noah Malsky, and Shayne Lukasavage.

She is also survived by cousins including her dear cousin and lifelong friend, Bernice Napkora.  Loretta loved her many nieces and nephews, many who proudly called her Godmother.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral which will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her beautiful life at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, of St. Barbara's Parish, 224 Memorial St., Exeter, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, officiating.

Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Cedar St., Exeter.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
