Leona Mikolaichik, 95, of Dallas, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Tiffany Court in Kingston.
Born in Swoyersville, on March 6, 1929, Leona was the last surviving child of the late John and Mary Stofko Vitanovec.
In her earlier years, Leona was very active in her church, the former First Assembly of God Church in Trucksville, and especially enjoyed ministering to those unable to attend church.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, and baking. In her free time Leona greatly enjoyed playing cards, bingo and all kinds of games. She also enjoyed occasional bus trips to the casino.
A devoted wife and mother, Leona was a homemaker, tending to the needs of her family. She truly treasured the time she spent with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Mikolaichik; her companion, Paul Uzialko; son, Mark Mikolaichik; grandchildren, Chris Hartman and William Smith Jr.; son-in-law, William Smith Sr.; and 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Surviving are her children, Louis Mikolaichik and his wife, Debbie, Wyoming; Janet Smith, Trucksville; Annet Kaminski and her husband, Steve, Trucksville; Paul Mikolaichik and his wife, Liz, Mountain Top; Ron Mikolaichik and his wife, Tammy, CA; and Lee Ann McDermott, and her husband, John, Wyoming; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, with the Reverend Peter A. Tomczak, officiating.
Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
