June Yunkunis, of West Pittston, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024 in Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital in Norriton, Pennsylvania.

Born and raised in Glenwood, New Jersey, June was the daughter of the late John and Laura Crawford Hovencamp.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of St. Barbara's Parish in West Pittston.

June attended Glenwood Elementary School and graduated from Hamburg High School.

In the early 1930's her parents were owners and operators of the McAfee Hotel and Restaurant in McAfee, NJ.  June learned the restaurant trade as a young girl and became a great chef.  She later purchased the McAfee Hotel and Restaurant and did away with the hotel but kept the restaurant and had a very successful business in which she prepared and served many quests meals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Brochik; brothers, John and William Hovencamp; and sisters, Marge Sisco and Evelyn Decker.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Charles Yunkunis, West Pittston; her daughter, Pamela Villa, Moosic; her grandson, Robert Villa, Moosic; great grandson, Noah Harry, Exeter; her sister, Lorraine Hovencamp, Whiting, NJ; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.

Interment will be held in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Cedar St., Exeter.

Relatives and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday morning at the funeral home.
