Judith D. Chernowsky, 84, of West Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Highland Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Exeter.

She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas C. Chernowsky, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Thomas passed away on May 20, 2026.

Born May 14, 1942, in Wilkes-Barre, Judith was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Lacina) Asklar.

Judith was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family and attending to their every need. She had a love of flowers and was an avid gardener, taking great pride in the beautiful flowers she cultivated around her home.

For the last several months, Judith was a resident of Highland Manor, where she affectionately coined herself the title of “Queen of the Manor.” True to her spirited personality, she kept the staff on their toes and entertained them with her many antics. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there and made an impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her parents and husband, Judith was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Chernowsky; and her brothers, Frederick Asklar and Clement Asklar.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Highland Manor for their exceptional care and compassion, as well as to Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving support and care.

Judith is survived by her devoted daughter, Michelle Chernowsky, and her partner, Steven Stelma, of Swoyersville; her sister, Elaine Asklar Bell, and her husband, Richard, of Wyomissing; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Judith’s wishes, funeral services will be held privately.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
