John O'Donnell, 80, of West Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born December 23, 1943, in Swoyersville, John was the son of the late Gerald and Elizabeth Vitanovitz O'Donnell.

John began his long journey in life working on farms in New York alongside his brothers, Jerry and Bobby; and parents, Gerald and Elizabeth, picking beans, and other various fruits and vegetables.This instilled in him a hard work ethic that he carried with him throughout life.

He did make time for sports, and was an all-around athlete in his hometown of Swoyersville, where he excelled in football, baseball, basketball, and later in life, golf. Golf became his love and passion. He became an exceptional golfer, forming life-lasting bonds, friendships, and connections.

John was a loving and an amazing father, a guiding and caring uncle, a responsible and kind grandfather, forever just kind and compassionate in general. John was always jovial and a warm and loving human being, he was never without a smile on his face, always capable of making you laugh.

He emblazoned himself in your heart, and he will forever be in mine and ours.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Hill O'Donnell; infant children, Janet, Denise and John II; and his sisters, Martha Lulewicz and Rose Sabol.

John is survived by his children, Kimberly Malinowski; John O'Donnell; and Kevin Patrick O'Donnell; and was blessed with several grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as his brothers, Gerald J.
O'Donnell and Robert J. O'Donnell; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Sunny.

A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
