Joann Phillips Fine, 77, formerly of West Wyoming, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024 in Washington, where she had resided the last few years with her daughter.

Born in Scranton, on August 8, 1947, Joann was the last surviving of 9 children born to the late William and Lettie Wagner Phillips.

Joann was a very caring person, which led her to her career in Health Care.  She attended the LCCC Nursing Program and was a nurse working in several local nursing homes as well as private homes, for over 30 years.

Joann was full of love for her family and friends, and if you were in her circle, you were Family for forever.  She enjoyed traveling, musicals, crafting, volunteering at church functions and music by Kenny Rogers and Neil Diamond.

In addition to her parents, brothers and sisters, Joann was preceded in death by her husband, David Fine.

Surviving are her daughters, Michele Fine and her partner, Shaun Barry, West Wyoming; Tracy Starr and her husband, Ben, Odenton, MD; and Claire Fine and her husband, Kurt Gucker, Ferndale, WA; her stepson, William Fine and his wife, Paula, Hanover Twp.; and her stepdaughter, Joann Moreno, Las Vegas; 6 grandchildren, Joseph Starr, Oliver Starr, Logan Fine-Gucker, Samantha Barry, Audrey Fine-Gucker, and Katherine Starr; 5 step grandchildren, her niece, who was like a sister, Lettie Holman-Warren; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 23rd at Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 24th, at 11 a.m. with a Mass at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 232 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, to be celebrated by Reverend Nick Lorenzetti. Those attending are asked to go directly to the church on Saturday morning.

Interment will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Dunmore.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
