Obituary

Jeanette (Bone) Smith, 91, of Exeter, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

She was born in Port Griffith on February 14, 1935, the daughter of the late Frank and Irene (Griglock) Bone.

Jeanette was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker who found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. Jeanette was a woman of deep faith. She was a dedicated member of St. John the Evangelist Church in Pittston.

Jeanette brought light and comfort to everyone around her, especially her children, extended family, and friends. She was always there with a listening ear, kind words, and steady guidance when it mattered most. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the many lives she shaped.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Smith Jr.; her daughter, Kathleen Moore; son-in-law, Frank Moore; and grandsons, Taylor and Ryan Moore; and her two brothers Frank Bone and Joseph Bone.

Left to cherish her memories are her children, Debra Barnard (Michael); Paula Opel (Robert); Jeanette Koller (Michael); Judy Smith; Paul Smith (Mona); Marian Rodriguez (Javier); Michelle Spindler (Arthur); and Joan Rusinchak (Michael); 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; sisters, Marie Strellish (Albert) and Irene Alfano (the late Charles); brother, James Bone (the late Rose); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jeanette's family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Wesley Village, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the exceptional care and compassion shown to her and her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday, April 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 25th with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 35 William St., Pittston.

Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Schooley St., Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jeanette's memory to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
