Jacob Joseph Para, 93, of Fairfax, Virginia, formerly of Port Blanchard, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, in Inova Fairfax Hospital, Virginia.

Born in Port Blanchard, on July 12, 1930, Jacob was the son of the late Simon and Mary Russin Para.

Jacob proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Prudential Insurance Company.

In addition to his parents, Jacob was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Ann (Walutes) Para on June 12, 2012; brothers, John, Leo, Andrew, and Joseph; and sisters, Catherine, Vivian, Mary, Stella, Agnes, Caroline and Antoinette; and son-in-law, Robert John Peldo.

Surviving are his son, David Para and his wife, Alice; daughter, Lisa Ann Peldo; grandchildren, Lauren and Robert Peldo; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church of St. Barbara's Parish, 224 Memorial St., Exeter.

Interment with military honors will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Family and friends are invited to attend Jacob's viewing, which will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home.
