Irene Charlotte Koshinski, 82, of Forty-Fort and formerly of Shickshinny Lake, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Allied Services Hospice Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Her beloved husband of 53 years was the late Harry C. Koshinski, who passed away on April 4, 2017.

Born on February 14, 1943, in Mount Carmel, PA, Irene was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Gabauer) Wojcik.

Irene dedicated her life to caring for others after graduating from the Ashland State Hospital School of Nursing. Her compassionate career in nursing included serving at the Shamokin Hospital, Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, and the Bonham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Stillwater. She later retired from Northeast Counseling Services in Nanticoke, where she continued her legacy of service.

Irene's love of family and friends was evident when hosting many gatherings, celebrations and holidays in her home, particularly at Shickshinny Lake, and later Cape Vincent, New York where she and her husband spent many summers enjoying the St. Lawrence River.  To say she could throw the best West Point tailgate party, was an understatement.

Her rewards for being an amazing mother were her grandchildren.  She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved hearing about all of their accomplishments and adventures.

In addition to her parents, and her husband, Irene was preceded in death by her son, Christian Koshinski; sister, Virginia McGinley as well as many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Surviving are her children, Stephen Koshinski and his wife, Dawn (Davidson), Shillington; Valerie Aiello and her husband, Joseph, Shavertown; Casimir Koshinski and his wife, Gail (Tereshak), Mohnton; and daughter-in-law, Evette (Starks) Koshinski, Noble OK; eight grandchildren, Matthew Koshinski and his wife, Lauren; Megan Bryant and her husband, Jason; Grace and Alexander Aiello; Jessica and Jason Koshinski; and Christian and Benjamin Koshinski; three great grandchildren, Maclin and Miles Bryant; and Beau Koshinski and one great grandchild, Sawyer, expected in November; sister, Rita Hand, Avoca; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Koshinski and Deborah Koshinski, Swoyersville; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

A devout and faithful Catholic, Irene was a member of Gate of Heaven Church in Dallas.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital, particularly the nurses and care providers of 5 East; Erwine Home Health & Hospice, where home physical therapy services can include dancing the polka; Allied Services Wilkes Barre Rehabilitation Hospital, and Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Family and friends are invited to attend Irene's viewing which will be held on Friday, from 10 to 11 A.M. in Gate of Heaven Church, 40 Machell Ave., Dallas, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M.

Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Swoyersville.
