Georgette Zapusek Obituary
On Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, Georgette A. "Jean" Zapusek, affectionately known as Mrs. Z, passed away at the age of 89.
Georgette spent her life in Northeast Pennsylvania alongside her beloved husband of 66 years, Norman D. Zapusek Sr.
Born Feb. 9, 1934, in Port Griffith, Georgette was one of nine children born to the late John Kolesar and Mary Pavlica Kolesar.
Georgette was a force of joy and humor, known for her lively spirit and quick wit. She loved outings to Boscov's or the pharmacy and insisted on perfectly curled hair for any public appearance. An avid QVC enthusiast, she found solace in watching endless hours, acquiring random items that often found a place collecting dust in her closet.
For over two decades, she was an integral part of Norm's Pizza, where she supported her son, Norm Jr. Mrs. Z, as everyone there called her, was a pillar of the team, always willing to help wherever needed. She loved spending time with her family in the kitchen. The energy her presence exuded in the pizza shop will be deeply missed. Beyond pizza, she was renowned for her pineapple squares and the world's best instant mashed potatoes.
In addition to her parents, John and Mary Kolesar, Georgette was preceded in death by her twin infant brothers; brother, John Kolesar; and sisters, Rosalie Kolesar, Mary Robb, Catherine Kolesar, Eleanor Schelling and Sophie Malys.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Zapusek Sr.; son, Norman Zapusek Jr. and his wife, Carey; daughter, Karen Yarosh and her husband, Rob; grandchildren, Sammy, Jaime, Josh, Bryce and Rachel; and several nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of love, laughter and unique humor will forever endure in the hearts of those she was surrounded with.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday from Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Barbara's Parish, St. Anthony of Padua Church, 224 Memorial St., Exeter.
