Gayle J. Faraday, 81, of Pittston, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the home of her daughter and caregiver, Kimberly Krupski.
Born on November 1, 1944, in Pittston, Gayle was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Benczkowski) Haefner. Prior to her retirement, she was dedicated to her career, working for 21 years at Techneglas. Never one to stop learning, Gayle returned to school after retiring and proudly earned her Associate Degree.
Gayle was a woman of many talents, but her truest passion was quilting and sewing. An exceptionally skilled seamstress, she lovingly crafted holiday outfits and special occasion dresses for her grandchildren. She also ensured each grandchild received a beautiful, handmade baby quilt to cherish.
Gayle found great joy and camaraderie in her craft, frequently attending quilting retreats with her close friends. She was a proud member of the Pennsylvania Quilters Guild and cherished her time with her special group of friends who affectionately called themselves the “Material Girls.” Outside of quilting, Gayle enjoyed staying active with water aerobics at the YMCA, picking fresh blueberries and strawberries and was a talented baker who delighted her family with homemade cookies every holiday season.
Above all, Gayle was the heart and center of her family. She treasured every moment spent making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Gayle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph J. Faraday; her brother, Sonny Haefner; and her sister, Linda Haefner.
She is survived by her devoted children: her son, Ronald Faraday and his wife, Catherine, of Pittston; her daughters, Jackie McCole of Ocala, FL, and Kimberly Krupski and her husband, Paul, of Mountain Top. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Alyssa, Bernie, Shawn, Megan, Samantha, Kailee, and Stefan; and seven great-grandchildren: Bernie, Mason, Ayla, Sofia, Oliver, Jackson, and Lane; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Gayle’s viewing on Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
A funeral service will follow at 12:30 PM in the chapel of the Denison Cemetery, 85 Dennison St., Swoyersville, with entombment to immediately follow.
