Obituary

Fred Cefalo, 71, of West Pittston, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at Allied Services Hospice Center in Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Pittston, on July 23, 1952, Fred was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Serino Cefalo.

He was a member of St. Barbara's Parish in Exeter.

An electrician by trade, he worked for TechnaGlass for 25 years, before retiring from Pride Mobility.

Fred found great joy on the baseball field.  Not only did he enjoy coaching his son, he also enjoyed coaching all his players alongside his fellow coaches for Greater Wyoming Area. He loved music and was an avid Notre Dame and die-hard Yankee fan.

Fred was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend.  May his spirit live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Cefalo and his sister-in-law, Janet Cefalo.

The family would like to thank Medical Oncology Associates, especially Dr. Bruce Saidman and his staff, the staff at Allied Hospice and the nursing staff of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for their care and compassion and for truly going above and beyond for Fred and his family.

Surviving are his wife of almost 34 years, the former Mary Lynn Sapiego; his son, Freddie, at home; brother, Joseph Cefalo and his wife, Cathy, Exeter; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be held on Friday, January 12th at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, of St. Barbara's Parish, 224 Memorial St., Exeter, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Medical Oncology Associates Prescription Fund (MOA Rx Fund) 382 Pierce St., Kingston, PA 18704.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
