Frank Napkora Obituary

Frank Napkora Jr., 91, of West Wyoming, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023, at his home.

His loving wife is Bernice Madl Napkora. Together they celebrated 63rd wedding anniversary on Nov. 19.

Born March 3, 1932, in West Wyoming, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Anna Wojcik Napkora. He was a graduate of West Wyoming High School, attended Penn State University, then entered the Army. He was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Pittston. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a machinist by Franconi Auto Parts.

Frank proudly served in the U.S. Army for 25 years. He enlisted in 1955 and rose to the rank of staff sergeant with the 365th Engineers Battalion (Wilkes-Barre) while serving in the Army Reserves. He was a loyal patriot and proudly marched in his full military attire in local Memorial Day parades for many years.

An antique car enthusiast, Frank especially loved his Model A pickup truck and could be found tinkering around with old engines. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved growing his vegetable garden, which he shared with his family, friends and neighbors. He was also an avid jogger for many years and often placed in the top tier in many local races. Frank enjoyed traveling in North America, in addition to traveling to Europe with Bernice.

In addition to his wife, Bernice, Frank is survived by his children, Frank Napkora (Donna), Hughestown; Zig Napkora, Walla Walla, Wash.; Susan Williams (Bryan), Wyomissing; and Raymond Napkora (Phyllis), Reading; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Melvin Napkora, West Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, followed by an Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, 205 N. Main St., Pittston, with the Rev. Andrii Dumnych, officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery in Pittston where military honors will be accorded by the U.S Army.

Family and friends are invited to attend Frank's viewing from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
