Obituary

Eugene M. Emershaw, 90, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026 at his home.

Born in Kingston on October 21, 1935, he was the son of the late Michael and Ida (Mitchell) Emershaw.

Before his well-earned retirement, Gene dedicated many years of hard work to JCPenney, where he was employed as a skilled window treatment installer.

Beyond his professional life, Gene was remarkably tech-savvy for his generation. He possessed a sharp mind and a lifelong curiosity, spending countless hours at his computer, operating his flight simulator, and piloting his drone. When he wasn't exploring new technology, Gene was an avid reader who deeply enjoyed the written word.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Agnes (Mesaris) Emershaw, and his brothers, Michael, Richard, and Gerald Emershaw.

He is survived by his children, Mark of New Mexico, Kenneth (Karen) of Oley, PA, and Laura (Richard) Gregory of Greenfield Twp., PA; his three grandchildren, Kristen Apple, Jaclyn Emershaw, and Jeffrey Emershaw; and his seven great-grandchildren, Kalli, Kya, Kasen, Rowan, Nora, Austin, and Lila. He also leaves behind his sisters, Linda Horvath and Cheryl Fazio, along with several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gene’s memorial visitation which will be held on Friday, from 10 to 12 Noon at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, followed by a Blessing Service at Noon.
