It is with profound sadness that his family announces the passing of Eric Uporsky, on Wednesday, August 14th, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore, PA.
Eric was born to Vivian Chintala Uporsky and the late Vincent Uporsky on January 2, 1969. He graduated from Wyoming Area High School, where he was a participant in football and track, and Penn State University, achieving a degree in Film and Video.
He spent ten years on the west coast working in various areas of film production and upon returning to the area, was employed by Craft Oil Corp.
Eric, known as Sprocket to his friends, was an expressive and witty storyteller. He was passionate about movies and the making of movies, especially horror films, and had an encyclopedic knowledge of them. He enjoyed watching and analyzing college football and was a big Kansas State fan. He also enjoyed playing guitar and bass, and chilling with his beloved cat, Pumpkin ("Punks").
In addition to his mother, Eric is survived by his daughters, Amelia and Alyssa, their mother Erin, sisters, Kimberly and Pamela and many family members and friends.
A viewing will be held from 3 to 7pm on Monday, August 19th at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave, Wyoming, PA 18644.
A Panachida Service will be offered by Reverend Andrii Dumnych, pastor of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, Pittston, PA on August 20th at 10am at the funeral home. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Exeter, PA.
In lieu of flowers, please consider honoring Eric with a donation to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 100 William St, Dunmore, PA 18512.
