Dorothy "Dottie" E. Chismar-Cruthers, 74, of Pittston, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, at home, surrounded by her family.

Her loving husband is John Cruthers, with whom Dottie would have celebrated their 13thwedding anniversary in August.

Born April 24, 1951, in Kingston, Dottie was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy Novak Santee.

Dottie was a member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church in Pittston.  She was a graduate of Wyoming Area Class of 1969.

She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Swoyersville American Legion Post 644; the Polish American Vets; the Henry Club; the Polish Club; and the Lithuanian Club in Inkerman.

Prior to her retirement, Dottie served with dedication for 14 years as a lab technician at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

She found joy in music and loved going dancing.  Dottie touched the lives of many with her kindness and gentle spirit, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her immense joy.

Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured forever.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Chismar and grandson, Brian Coolbaugh Jr.

Surviving are her husband John Cruthers; her daughter, Stacey Conti and her husband, Thomas, Pittston; 4 grandchildren, Jeremy and his wife, Ashley; William; Eric and fiancé, Jay; and Rissa; and 3 great grandchildren, Aubrey, Matthew, and Andrew.Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dottie's viewing which will be held on Friday, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.

A private funeral service will be held Saturday with interment to follow in St. John the Baptist Slovak Cemetery, Exeter.
