Dora Marlene
Emershaw
Nov 25, 1948 — Feb 10, 2026
Dora Marlene Emershaw, 77, of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Born in Saskatoon, Canada, on November 25, 1948, Dora was the beloved daughter of the late William and Goldie Rasmussen Steel. A woman of deep faith, she was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Swoyersville.
Dora was a powerhouse in her professional life, serving as the Owner and CEO of Transcription Associated, Inc, a company she founded in 1981. Her career was built on a strong administrative foundation, including her years as the Medical Transcriptionist-Lead Clerk at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.
Beyond her work, Dora was an active and vibrant member of her community and dedicated her time to the Swoyersville Kiwanis. She was an enthusiastic fan of soccer, football and hockey, our Wilkes-Barre Pens being one of her favorite teams. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and enjoyed country and blues music.
Dora treasured time with her family. She especially loved holidays, get togethers and backyard barbecues where she was the family "gold-medal" badminton player. Everyone wanted her on their team.
Above all, nothing brought her more joy than being a grandmother. She cherished her grandchildren and was incredibly supportive of everything they did. She was in the audience of every performance and on the bleachers of every sports event quietly cheering them on.
In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Michael Emershaw in 2014.
Surviving are her son, Darryl Emershaw and his wife, Becky, Wyoming; and her two grandchildren, Sydney and her fiancé, David and Benjamin Emershaw.
In accordance with the family's wishes, funeral services will be held privately.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.
