Obituary

Deborah D. Vavrek, 68, of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on March 23, 1955, Deborah was the daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth Belles Farber.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bonnie Hinz and Lori Snarski.

Deborah cherished moments with her family, especially her four grandchildren. Known for her generous spirit, quick wit, and remarkable crafting talents, she brought joy to those around her. Throughout her life, Deborah also held various roles including floral designer and logistics manager.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Andrew Vavrek, his daughter, Addison, his partner, Jennifer Halat, and her son, Landon; Michael Vavrek and his wife, Marissa, and their children, Liam, Elliana, and Nation; sister, Judith Dane and her husband, Donald; brothers, Robert Farber and his wife, Davida; and Gary Farber and his wife, Kendra; as well as several nieces and nephews.

The viewing will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Friday from the funeral home, followed by mass at 10:30 AM in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville and will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 612 Mount Olivet Road, Carverton.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to the Luzerne County Child Advocacy Center.
