Obituary

David M. Charney, 87, of Harding, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at his home.

Born in West Wyoming, on April 13, 1938, David was the son of the late Edward George and Margaret Ondish Charney.

He was a member of Church of the Holy Redeemer of Corpus Christi Parish, Harding.

After graduating from high school, David honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a communication specialist.  Before his retirement, he worked as a computer operator for the Social Security Administration.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Brodie) Charney, and his brother, Edward J. Charney.

Surviving are his son, David A. Charney and his wife, Christina; his granddaughter, Brianna Charney; nephews, Edward M. Charney and Daniel Charney; and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday from Bednarski Funeral Home, 168 Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Church of the Holy Redeemer of Corpus Christi Parish, Harding, with the Reverend Michael S. Drevitch, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Carverton.

Family and friends are invited to attend David's viewing which will be held on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
