Darla Elizabeth Creasy, a beloved resident of Wyoming, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, March 1, 2024. Her compassionate spirit and unwavering support touched the lives of countless individuals. She was a gifted and empathetic soul, who found joy in caring for others and lived life with a profound sense of gratitude.

Darla dedicated her career to serving as a mental health program counselor for challenged and homeless adolescents at Step-by-Step Counseling Services since 1984. Her passion for helping others was evident in every aspect of her work. Darla's education journey led her through Monmouth College, with continued learning at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Marywood College, and Luzerne Community College, where she remained current in her field.

An exceptional woman of remarkable talents, Darla possessed a deep love for spirituality and humanity. Her ability to understand and connect with people in a unique, present-moment way made her a cherished confidante and listener. She was also a worldly individual with a profound appreciation for art, poetry, films, and literature spanning a wide range of subjects.

One of Darla's greatest joys was traveling, particularly to New York City, where she frequented Broadway shows and museums. In her earlier days, she reveled in the glamour of the city, enjoying dining and dancing in iconic clubs like Studio 54. Her life was filled with adventures, loves, and an exuberant passion for living fully.

A fervent believer in the power of love and compassion, Darla held a deep interest in politics and often expressed a wish for a world guided by the principles of love, selflessness, and understanding. She voiced concerns about the rising divisions and prejudices in the United States, advocating for the care and respect of all individuals, regardless of their beliefs, backgrounds, or affiliations.

In addition to her professional endeavors, Darla was an active member of the Junior League of Wilkes-Barre and volunteered in various community initiatives, including after-school children's reading programs at the Wilkes-Barre Housing Authority and service at the Veterans Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.

Darla is survived by her loving brother Edward, Albert, cherished family members, and a host of dear friends. A Celebration of Darla Creasy's Life was held with The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. May Darla's soul rest in eternal peace, her memory a beacon inspiring acts of compassion and love in all of us.  As John Donne so beautifully expressed in his poem, Death Be Not Proud, "One short sleep past, we wake eternally. And death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die."
